Mexico (Notimex) – Mexico is the Latin American country with the highest number Unesco World Heritage Sites with 35, said President Enrique Peña Nieto.
The comment came after the Tehuacán-Cuicatlán Biosphere Reserve gained World Heritage status.
The Tehuacán biosphere is the fourth site during the present administration to gain that status.
The biosphere, which comprises some 500,000 hectares, is home to 70 percent of the world’s flora families, and is also a center of agro-biodiversity for many groups of plants, such as cacti.
